1 ticket and 2 hrs later the dynamically exhausted and never to do this drive again are back in Tyler!
Made it out of the metroplex.
After a great lunch at Chipotle two hours remain till back in Tyler! And 7 till Alias
Just outside of Fort Worth for our last fuel top off of the trip. Number 11.
Boom ticket.
Micah just got pulled over for speeding.
About 4 hours away.
Memphis, TX is stinking load because of the trains.
Sunrise!
Ugh! Well we are back in the urinal of TX, Amarillo smells so bad!
Welcome back to Central time.
Texas! The end is near!
Back in the Lone Star State. Boo 70 mph speed limit!
1: I would never drive on icy roads just for fun.
2: driving after a 5 hour energy is a breeze.
3: thank you all for praying for our safety, we only experienced one close call.
4: CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH ALIAS TONIGHT!!!!!!
I am looking forward to my turn to drive.

Wooh! The traffic is gone. And the answer to Dentagon is: car hail damage removal.
Estimated time of arrival: 12:32 pm.
This traffic is terrible! Way to much panicking and driving uber slow.
And that is officially the worst place we've eaten the whole trip. Don't eat at Blake's Lotta Burgers.
Time for a late dinner at Blake's Lotta Burger. It looks like a fifties diner but with nothing interesting to look at.
In other news, its detour time! Some sort of accident I assume. There is no view from the service road. Also Micah is playing Eminen and singing along.
See ya around Arizona. Don't know when i'll be back this way, thanks for the snow.
Saw an ad for Dentagon on a truck. What do you think that was for? No googling cheaters.
Nothing to see but clear skies and bright stars.
Nothing to see but clear skies and bright stars.

Snowball Assassin

So far the most dangerous part of the trip has been Micah trying to get off the highway to a gas station at fuel top off 8 in Flagstaff, AZ.
Elevation - 7,335 ft. Awesome.
The pine trees are pregnant with snow. Like 9 months so.
I don't want to speak too soon, but I think we might miss most of the bad weather. We are about 40 minutes outside of Flagstaff. But we still have another 1000 feet to climb.
Just passed a sign for the Roadkill Cafe. Micah said 'They guarantee what they serve will be dead.'
It suddenly got much darker. And people are driving much too cautious.
Currently our temperature is 39 degrees with some fog and light snow. But the road is clear for now, which is good.
Bring on the storm clouds!
We meet again the Colorado River.
Fuel top off 7. Gas price $4.09
Apparently I look just like our waitresses husband.
So at lunch and advertised I the Mohave Mimosa "so yummy it will make you giggle! Tickle your tummy with a refreshing blind of champagne and orange juice." or you could say The Mohave Mimosa " Tickle me Elmos won't think of starting his day without one! Why would you?"
Change of plans the Hungry Bear doesn't exist. So Juicy's River Cafe it is.
Normally on Sundays at 3 Micah and I are at Movie club. Check out GSMW under other greatness on the side to get more info about the group as well as the movies we've seen.
5 hour energy grape flavor ... Stings the back of your throat and makes you wish you had something else.
Perfect! Now the air works like its supposed to. Just had to pop that panel off.
Doing surgery on Micah's car.
The desert is much less interesting with no cloud cover.
Fuel top off number 6 in San Dimas, CA. And bonus view of snow covered mountains.
So thanks to a handy tip from EZ we are going to take 4 back as there is a mountain pass on 1 that gets closed during the winter. Thanks for the tip EZ.
Ok, so they have a pancake making machine. You push a button and two pancakes 45 seconds later. They come out with this weird crispy/chewy texture.
I supose its your standard slightly fancy menu. Cereal, bagels, etc.
Good morning everyone. Time to go see what the hotel serves for breakfast.

Saturday, February 19, 2011

The hotel shampoo and conditioner smells like cinnamon.

Bonus Video - Soda Run 2011

I apologize in advance. I can get youtube to smoothly load this clip where the audio and video sync together. Best just to listen to it.

Baskin Robbins I playing forever and they just played grenade!! Amazing
Waiting for our video to upload and process. In the meantime, ice cream.
It's possible that i haven't had my shoes off in over 24 hours. Feels nice.

Santa Monica Pier

Technical Difficulties

So we've been sending updates, but they haven't been posting. I apologize for worrying anyone, i promise we weren't slacking. We'll be doing a video update tonight to make up for it.
Through the mountains and over the Colorado river into California we are!!!!
Here comes the sun!
Rainy and still moving!
Still snowing!!
We are improperly dressed for this weather.
500miles to Los Angeles
Okay! It's snowing heavy on us! What the crap!
So it's 39 degrees and apparently flagstaff has a winter storm warning!
So now we approach the very unusual 3-4 window in time. A time that is no longer night and not yet morning, plenty of mystery awaits in this one hour that is fast approaching! Are we there yet?
No wonder we kept seeing snow at times! we are 6,000 stinking feet I'm elevation!
Arizona: population increase 2. Awesome increase...their scale doesn't go that high!
Top off number 4 in Gallup, NM.
The moonlight on the mountains is beautiful!

There are very weird stone triangular purple lit art pieces on the interstate......hmmm
Welcome to Albuquerque new Mexico!
Oh no big deal but we are nearing Roswell New Mexico...you know...area 51
Before I forget, I would like to note that Kyle did in fact sing along with a song during the drive!!!
Almost in Encino which makes me think of the movie Encino man with Polly sure and Brendan fresher....ha
Fuel top off number 3 in Santa Rosa, NM.
Hey everyone! Micah here. Kyle is now driving and I will be taking over the blogging for now!
So there is just enough light to make out these black shadowy objects in the adjacent fields. I'm pretty sure they are trees/bushes, but I can't help but think 'Did that just move? Is something out there?' Whatever it is I'm sure we can take it.
So Micah and I seem to differ greatly on night time travel etiquette. I prefer to keep a polite distance from other travelers, while he would rather pull up right next to them. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments.
It's way easier to focus when you can't see anything ... Not that there is much to see.
Speed limit of 75! New Mexico rocks!
Yeah time change!
Welcome to New Mexico: Land of Enchantment. True story.
!!!!!
1 mile!!!
2 miles!
3 miles to Nm!
4 miles to NM.
5 miles to NM.
6 miles to NM.
7 miles to NM.
8 miles to NM.
9 miles to NM.
10 miles to NM.
WHY WOULD YOU LIVE HERE!
Amarillo smells like a bad French Quarter urinal.
New estimated time of arrival: 10:38 am.
So its a baseball themed diner specializing in burgers. It's good enough. What's more interesting is the pile of snow outside the restuarant.
We're at the Home Plate Diner and all i want to do is touch the mural that says don't touch.
Currently foraging for food in Amarillo. I think we're gonna check out Micahs moms suggestion of Home Plate.
Just passed the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum. I dont think it was open.
Transitioning from US 287 to I-40.
I can see the curvature of the earth. I could not live out here.
We're gonna hit Amarillo in about an hour. Anybody know a good quick place to stop for food? Let us know in the comments.
I jurt realized that the design on the toe of my sock looks like a swastika ... What the heck?
We are currentlx in the city of legends, Quanah. Pictures to follow.
I can't be certain, but i think the main export of Vernon, Tx is cow.
"Santa is coming to town. Please don't hit him." *billboard seen in W. Falls
Well that was a real winner of a bathroom. Your color scheme should never be dark yellow.
Refuel number one underway hn Witchita Falls
Micah just brought tp a good point: "You know a 1,500 mile isn't that far compared to it being 10,000 miles in the other direction."
We've already hit the edge of nowhere. There is nothing to see for miles, except for this huge bank of clouds we're driving towards. Hopefully that will provide something interesting.
Hello Texas Motor Speedways.
I didn't know that Trophy Club, Texas existed. And with good reason, there is nothing here.
Approximate arrival time: 9:18 am
WOOOOH! Traffic!
Lunch is over, and it looks like we Are having trouble posting pictures. We're working on it.
Time for lunch. We're in Mesquite and I spy the signature pink building of Taco Cabana!
We just passed a Long John Silvers/A&W combo ... We have no words for the grossness of this frankenstein combination of food.
We're at I-20. I don't think i've travelled east from Tyler on 20.
Four phone calls and a few texts later, victory is mine! Now we know where we are going.
So right off the bat we have to go on a side quest to get my GPS from my car at the repair shop.
And we're off.

A New Era Has Begun

That's right people. Micah and I have started a blog. And you won't believe what we'll be doing first. Check back on Friday morning to see exactly what we are up to, and to follow along as we live blog the whole thing. You don't want to miss it!
